Bakersfield's finest no doubt takes his name from the famous monophonic/polyphonic from Korg (used by Hardfloor, Tangerine Dream, The Orb, 808 State, Juno Reactor, Megaton Matt Haines, Freddy Fresh, Chemical Brothers) Mono/Poly releases to date are limited to a few one-off cameos and re-rubs on Warp and Circulations Japan, and more recently on Fat City and Beat Dimensions.
The California beatmeister Charles Dickerson aka Mono/Poly is a name that will be familiar to anyone paying attention to the beat edits scene over the last year. His pre-release cuts have been a staple feature of mixes emerging from Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder camp, of which he is a member, while his own sessions have been aired everywhere from Dublab to Mary Anne Hobbs, and his regular appearances at LA’s Low End Theory club have grown to become major crowd pullers.
The George Machine tracks have been floating around here & there for a few months, played & supported by Busy P/Pedro Winter (Ed Banger), Benji B, Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Zero dB, Simbad & many more, in fact it's featured on our own Ras G "Beat Soup" mix.
