Mark has over 15 years of music-buying experience for such companies as Primal Records (SF), Housewares (SF), and Groovetech. In addition to buying fine tunes for CALSOUND.COM, he is the creative director for CALSOUND.COM's infamous newsletters, as well as its author. Working alongside Calsound.com's artistic director Andrew Boswell, he has helped create newsletters that are both
psychedelic and informative. Click here to find out what the hell we are talking about. He also is a huge fan of triangle-shaped cuisine such as Spanikopita and pizza and loves documentaries by Werner Herzog.

As a DJ, Mark's genre-defying sets have been both awing and confusing crowds for over 20 years. It is not uncommon to hear Human League and IN FLAGRANTI tunes nestled up to THROBBING GRISTLE & SEVERED HEADS within his sets.

Dj Shine’s roots in the electronic dance culture began in 1990 as a promoter of legendary underground warehouse parties in Southern California.  Dj Shine produced and promoted underground parties such as Omni 4 in 1990, Raven 1992, Human Be-in 1992, Campin’ Trip 1993 & 1997, The Deep 1992-93, Moonlight Massive, Bass Lab 2007 to name a few.

Shine’s inspiration to dj came from listening to Dj’s back-in-the-day at warehouse parties such as Mark E. Quark, Dj Trance, Steve Loria, B-Side, and Dj Dan.  As a 17 year veteran dj, Shine mixes House, Electro, Breaks and Techno taking the crowd on an auditory journey. 

An avid record fiend since age 11, music has been one of the guiding forces in Andy's life. Inspired by early 90's west coast underground parties in Los Angeles ( Flammable Liquid) and San Francisco ( the Wicked Full Moon parties) he began dj'ing in 1997. His taste in music runs the gamut from downtempo to psychedelic to house to 80's industrial and new wave. Playing out, your likely to hear his own little blend of disco dub breaks and funky house. His dissatisfaction with the state of clubs in San Diego also led him to start throwing parties in lofts and off-the beaten path bars and clubs.

Besides dj'ing he is a graphic/web designer and the Artistic Director at CSL In fact, you are looking at his worrk right now! This website was developed by him over the summer and early fall of 2007. Why, he is even typing all of this. A true Renaissance man indeed. And he has the most AWESOME dog EVER!
